FULTON, NY – Oswego County Opportunities Nutrition Services partnered with National Meals on Wheels and Subaru to “Share the Love” this past holiday season to help feed seniors through its home delivered meals program and at its Dining and Activities Centers.

According to OCO Nutrition Services Coordinator Bridget Dolbear Subaru’s Share the Love Event proved to be an excellent way to increase awareness of OCO’ Nutrition Services and the benefits it provides for seniors in Oswego County.
As part of Subaru’s Share the Love Event OCO’s Nutrition Services collaborated with Fuccillo Subaru of Watertown, Kinney Drugs in Mexico and Key Bank in Pulaski to help Share the Love with those that receive home delivered meals or visit one of OCO’s Dining and Activity Centers.
“Throughout the holiday season Kinney Drugs in Mexico and Key Bank in Pulaski hosted Senior Giving Trees and collected numerous gifts, additionally, Fuccillo Subaru of Watertown lent us a Subaru vehicle to use for collecting donations for our food pantry in Mexico and our annual Blizzard Bag project that provides seniors in our home delivered meal program with an emergency supply of food during the winter months, we also received a generous donation from the Oswego County Department Staff Association,” said Dolbear.
OCO’s participation in the Subaru Share the Love Event was part of a national effort by the Meals on Wheels Association of America and Subaru that may provide OCO’s local home delivered meals program with much needed additional funds.
For every Subaru vehicle sold between November 19 and January 2 Subaru will donate $250 to the purchaser’s choice of the participating charities, one of which being Meals on Wheels.
By the end of this year, Subaru and its retailers will have donated more than $65 million to charity through the Share the Love Event.
“We are pleased to have been able to be a part of the “Share the Love” event. The support we receive from Subaru will allow us enhance our services and feed even more seniors in Oswego County,” added Dolbear. “In addition many businesses, local groups, schools and community members donated food, holiday gifts and their time to give to the seniors we serve.”
OCO’s home Delivered Meal service is funded in part through Oswego County Office for the Aging and United Way of Greater Oswego County.
