OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Legislature recently recognized October 18 as National Lights On After School Day.

This day celebrates the critical importance of afterschool programs in the lives of children, families and communities.
Across the country, many of these programs are facing funding shortfalls that force them to close their doors and turn off their lights.
Oswego County Opportunities’ Rural Afterschool Program is based on the principle that quality afterschool programs are vital to help children become successful adults.
Program advisors urge all citizens to support this mission to provide every child with a safe, engaging place to go where the lights are on after school.
Program advisors from OCO and RASP were at hand for the presentation with the Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee.
