OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Office for the Aging (OFA) invites seniors to an “adoption” event where they can select their own animatronic pet to take home! From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 11, residents aged 60 and older can “meet” a variety of available robotic cats or dogs at the OFA building, located at 74 Bunner St., Oswego.
“Animatronic pets offer seniors the companionship of a beloved pet without the demands of daily care,” said OFA Director Sara Sunday. “These lifelike robotic cats and dogs feature realistic sounds and movements, providing comfort and helping ease feelings of loneliness. We encourage any senior experiencing social isolation to visit our adoption event and meet their new best friend.”
Those interested in an animatronic pet will go through an eligibility screening. Participants must be aged 60 or older and live within the community, rather than in a facility-based setting. Each senior is limited to one pet, while supplies last.
For more details about the animatronic pets or the adoption day, contact Elizabeth Weimer at 315-349-3570.
