OSWEGO – In recognition of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Oswego Fire Department has partnered with Oswego County Opportunities’ (OCO) Cancer Services Program of the North Country to help get its campaign off by making new “Fighting Cancer” shirts available to the public.

“It was a pleasant surprise when OCFD Firefighter / Paramedic Andy Rockwood called to tell me that the Oswego City Fire Department would be supporting our efforts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by selling Oswego Fire Department Fighting Cancer shirts,” said Carolyn Handville, coordinator of OCO’s Cancer Services Program of the North Country.  “The firefighters had done this in the past and I was happy to hear they are continuing their efforts to promote breast cancer awareness once again.”

Handville said that OFD Fighting Cancer shirts are available as t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts. To order shirts visit https://ofdoctts2025.itemorder.com/shop/sale/[1]  now through Sept 14th. Shirts will be ready for pickup Oct 1st.

Adminstered by OCO, the Cancer Services Program of the North Country provides free cancer screenings including clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap/pelvic exams and colorectal cancer screenings to community members who are uninsured and between 40 and 64 years of age.  For more information on the Cancer Services Program Partnership of Oswego County contact Carolyn Handville at 315-592-0830 or visit OCO’s website at www.oco.org[2].
