Oswego County Historical Society Plans Silent Auction for April 19

OSWEGO — The Oswego County Historical Society is currently planning its 26th annual “Not So Silent Auction,” which will be held April 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at The American Foundry, 246 W. Seneca St., in Oswego.

“The plans for this popular event are well under way and a special evening is being organized that everyone will truly enjoy,” said auction co-chair Fran Lanigan. “We are counting on the results to help meet our goals and we’re really looking forward to it.”

One of the highlights for the evening will be a live auction offering opportunities to bid on full packages and special items.

Professional auctioneer Ted Sivers has volunteered to conduct this exciting part of the auction.

The silent auction portion will feature numerous items including antiques, collectibles and gift certificates donated by individuals and local businesses. There will also be a table displaying themed filled gift baskets with a variety of items to bid on.

A buffet and a cash bar will be available to participants as well.

Generous donations from area businesses will sponsor the cost of these items.

“The funds raised at this event will help the historical society continue to operate the Richardson Bates House Museum for tours, educational events, and to maintain the historical records kept there,” added co-chair Meg Schneider. “We will certainly appreciate any new memberships that we receive at the auction and sponsorships as well.”
