OSWEGO – The Oswego County Opportunities Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding, and Lactation Friendly New York (BFFNY) initiative is proud to announce the official certification of the Oswego County Opportunities offices on George Street as a Lactation Friendly Public Space.

The BFFNY certification recognizes OCO’s dedication to supporting local families by providing a welcoming, private, and accessible environment for parents to feed their children. By establishing this space, Oswego County Opportunities is taking a significant step in advancing the community’s core mission: ensuring that all parents can breastfeed or chestfeed with confidence and ease while accessing essential services.

“This certification honors OCO’s commitment to accessibility and empowerment,” said Kimberly Zimmer, BFFNY Program Manager. “We are proud to partner with them in making a tangible, positive difference for parents and children throughout Oswego County. Creating these supportive environments is key to fostering a healthier, more inclusive community.”

The BFFNY initiative works across the county to partner with businesses, healthcare practices, and community spaces to implement lactation-friendly policies and environments. This new space at George Street serves as a model for how local organizations can support the health and well-being of the families they serve.
