OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Sunrise Rotary had the honor of receiving District Governor Henry MacDonald and his wife, Joan, at its October 1 meeting.

Governor MacDonald shared with Rotarians his life experiences which led him to his leadership role in Rotary, which included becoming the recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor, the Purple Heart, The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, a Presidential Citation, three Good Conduct Medals, and various Campaign and Service Ribbons associated with his service with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Viet Nam War.
He has held positions in the helping professions for over 34 years before being elected to serve as District Governor for Rotary.
Governor MacDonald has been a member of the Auburn Rotary Club since 1979, serving in numerous leadership positions.
He spoke with members about the impact Rotary International has had on the eradication of polio across the globe, along with inspiring club members with opportunities to lead and “Be a Gift to the World.”
Sunrise Rotary President Donald Todd said, “We are lucky and proud to have District Governor MacDonald with us today. He exemplifies Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self.”
The Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club meets on Thursday of each week at 6:30 a.m. at the Oswego Tea Company located at 157 E. First St. and welcomes new members and guests.
