What if you got the call for a big interview today? What would you do?

More than 175 Paul V. Moore seniors were asked those questions and stepped out of their comfort zone, as each student was recently challenged to participate in a mock interview challenge.
H. R. professionals from local businesses partnered with the school to conduct these sessions and provide a real-life interview experience.
Representatives were on hand from King + King Architects, Suburban Propane, Loretto Health System, Comfort Windows, DOT Foods and CPS Recruitment.
Paul V. Moore business teacher Danielle House and career center coordinator Debbie O’Mara worked together with the twelfth grade English department to make the mock interview experience as realistic as possible.
Each student was tasked to research their desired position or field of interest and created a resume with cover letter, catered to their target career.
Encouraged to dress for success, students checked in with the receptionist and sat in an impromptu ‘waiting room’ until their interview.
Each interviewee was then taken to a meeting room and asked an array of actual interview questions that these professionals use in their standard employment interview process.

Evaluation feedback cards were filled out after each interview, to be gone over individually with participants in class.
The challenge aimed at prompting students to start really thinking about their future educational and career goals, while also helping them become more familiar with the interview process and how well their needs, aspirations and goals might be interpreted by employers.
This also included an emphasis on soft skills such as body language, eye contact, time management, proper etiquette, attire, cell phone use, and post interview follow-up.
