Petal Pals Brings Joy, Job Skills To Hannibal

HANNIBAL – Hannibal High School students enrolled in the Life Skills class hope positivity blooms with their new Petal Pals initiative.

Students in the Hannibal High School Life Skills class are excited to begin their new Petal Pals venture, which delivers flowers to Hannibal Central School District staff members while teaching the students job skills and soft skills.

For the nominal fee of $25 for the school year, Hannibal Central School District teachers, staff members or administrators may have Life Skills students will help design and then deliver a colored carnation, baby’s breath and greens monthly to their colleagues at any HCSD building.

Life Skills teacher Alicia Knight said the new initiative provides the students with the following additional job skills and soft skills: money management, customer service, alphabetizing, following directions and floral design, among several others.

The students said they were excited for the program to kick-off this month.

They already had been accustomed to working in a café at school, collecting bottles and cans to fund field trips and supplies, performing office tasks and other duties.

Knight, fellow teacher Denise Cealie and the Life Skills job coaches commended Travis Floral for their support of the project.
