PULASKI – “We are here to honor excellence,” began Pulaski Middle School Principal Michael Bateson. “Leadership, good character, strong academics, perseverance, effort, and excellence.”

The annual awards ceremony was held to honor students in grades 6-8 for their exemplary academics, character, and leadership qualities.
Sixth grade awards included the Monday Club Award presented to Owen Stevens for the most improved and best effort in English.
The John Waddicor Memorial Reading Incentive Award was presented to Brooklyn Bencivenni in honor of librarian John Waddicor to recognize students who have demonstrated a love for literature and an extraordinary interest in books and reading.
Owen Stevens and Cassidy Philips were presented the Brenda Powell Memorial Band Award for their outstanding interest and enthusiasm in music and their dependability, cooperation and good practice habits as well as their attendance.

The New York State Attorney General’s Triple C Award is presented to students who demonstrate character, commitment and courage and was awarded to Aaron Myers and Ethan Senator.
The Stand Up For Others Award to recognize a student who respects teachers and classmates and is willing to stand up for what is right and help others in need was presented to Persephone Bockman.
Academic Excellence Awards for achievement and effort were presented to students who had an average of 95 or above in the subject matter or showed outstanding effort in a subject area that is above and beyond classroom expectation.
In addition, music and art awards were presented to recognize outstanding achievement in those areas.
The John Ben Snow Incentive Award was presented to recognize students with outstanding academic, leadership, character and community service.

Sixth grade recipients included: Allie Denny, Zoe Eisel, Micah Charsky, Amanda Carnefix, Emily Ballou, Holly McCarty, Landon Jones, John Carnes, Rafael Aguilar and Katherine Woods.
Seventh grade recipients included: McKenna McCormack, Mia Pierce, Tayla Pierce, Jordan Burdich, Krysta Glazier, Makenzie Hurlbut, Jake Donnelly, Brooke Whitaker, Noah Cartier and Abigail Timmerman.
Eighth grade recipients included: Erin Maneeley, Daniel Novak, Kelsey Kranz, Corey Whitaker, Ashley VanDuzer, Samantha Hefti, Benjamin Carguello, Alex Rodriquez, Sophie Lawrence and Abigail Hanley.
John Ben Snow was born and raised in Pulaski. He rose through the ranks in the Woolworth organization where he accumulated a small fortune through hard work and wise investments.
He continues to “invest” in young people in the Pulaski community through the John Ben Snow Foundation established in 1948.
