To promote strong literacy skills, Fairgrieve Elementary School teachers, administration and staff have rallied behind the Accelerated Reader initiative, and students are reaping the rewards.

Since September, students have been busy reading and accumulating points for each book they completed.
Eight elementary-age bookworms reached the 100-point total this year, which earned them pizza and ice cream sundaes with Principal Jean Ciesla and Library Media Specialist Barb Senecal.
They also received books, backpacks and other items to reward them for their efforts.
The Top 8 Accelerated Readers were Kaylee Hutchins, Olivia Hawthorne, Emma Weaver, Lexi Patterson, Brandi Carr, Jessica Allen, Tristan Kent and Damien Hickman.
