OSWEGO – Eric Hellquist from SUNY Oswego, plant ecologist and Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary.

Dr. Hellquist spoke about what he refers to as the ‘Ripple Effect’ on our Great Lakes.
Dr. Hellquist spoke about watershed areas and the effects of rain, snow and toxins on our own Great Lake Ontario.
He was accompanied by students Scott Minihkeim and Nina House.
Scott and Nina, working with Dr. Hellquist, have pursued research projects on the effects of macroplastics and microplastics on the Great Lakes and wildlife.
Very interesting topic and eye opening facts and figures.
Thanks Eric, Scott and Nina.
