Rotarians Hear About Sheriff’s Department

OSWEGO – Undersheriff Gene F. Sullivan III, from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, was a recent guest at an Oswego Rotary club meeting.
Sullivan described the duties of an undersheriff and spoke about current events within the Sheriff’s Office.
He explained what responsibilities the Sheriff’s Department has such as road patrol, civil, court security, marine and snowmobile patrol and criminal investigation division.
The office has county-wide coverage which includes 968 square miles and additionally, they have direct supervision of the correctional facility.
Sullivan also gave some updates on substance abuse in Oswego County.
He quoted some pretty staggering statistics related to drug use in our county and Central New York but an interesting and enlightening discussion.
