FULTON – At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia introduced Jo Piersma of the Oswego County Humane Society.

She told us some of the history of how the Humane Society came about.
Living on a road where unwanted animals were always dropped off lead her to begin a foster care system utilizing volunteers.
Moving them to a foster home, versus a shelter, was much better for the animals.
It not only made the adoption process easier, they also had the ability to get information about the animal for the adoptive family.
The Oswego County Humane Society tries to be rational about the requirements for adoption.
They look for a home that’s best for the animal.
Several times a month the Humane Society offers spay and neuter clinics for low-income families.
Funding for the Humane Society’s work comes from donations, fund-raisers, the fees from the clinics and the occasional state grant.
The Oswego County Humane Society is not affiliated with the National
Humane Society.
The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 a.m. at Mimi’s.
