OSWEGO – The Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club was pleased to welcome one of its own as guest speaker at its recent meeting.

Kevin Hill, Sunrise Rotary Club President-Elect and President of the Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum Board of Directors, spoke about the history of the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter and Oswego’s historical significance as the only community in the entire United States to welcome World War II refugees who were escaping the atrocities of Hitler’s Holocaust in Europe.
Hill also discussed current museum initiatives, including progress on Fort Ontario and Safe Haven’s move toward achieving National Park Status, as well as information related to local Holocaust Memorial Observances (Yom HaShoah).
