The 171st day of the 2102-13 school year was a pretty special day for students in first grade at Sandy Creek Elementary School.
The students hosted and were the stars of a Reading Tea.

Reading Tea is an annual event at the school where each first grader invites one special guest to their classroom for a celebration to commemorate reading and writing achievements.
First grade teachers Deborah Klotz, Leslie Langenegger, and Heather Wallace welcomed the students’ special guests, thanked them for taking the time to recognize the students’ hard work and beamed with pride as they spoke about how much the students have grown academically and socially since the start of the school year.

Students, as a group, read aloud to the Reading Tea guests and then shared their favorite stories, poems and books with their guest.
Teachers also used the time to give parents valuable reading resources that are available and that the students can use at home during the summer months to continue practicing their reading skills in preparation for second grade.
