SBA Celebrates National Small Business Week in CNY on May 2

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Twenty-four small businesses from a variety of industries, from bakeries to breweries, will be recognized during National Small Business Week at the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 20th Annual Small Business Excellence Awards luncheon in Syracuse on May 2 at 11:30 a.m.

Small businesses are selected for the Excellence Awards based on their company’s longevity, innovation, sales growth, increased employment, ability to overcome adversity or community contributions.

SBA, the New York Business Development Corporation, area lenders and economic developers will recognize these successful businesses at a luncheon and awards ceremony. The event will be emceed by News Channel 9 anchor Dan Cummings and held at The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

Business owners, bankers and SBA’s Syracuse District Director will be available for interviews before and after the event. Small Business Excellence winners are listed below. Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories.
