MEXICO, NY – A new collaborative in Mexico is looking to connect educators with the local community in an effort to further support special education needs and initiatives.
The Mexico Academy & Central School District’s Special Education department recently hosted its first Special Education Support Community meeting at the middle school cafeteria.
The group’s vision is to build partnerships between home, educations and the community by fostering a collaborative environment which supports student success.
“This initiative aligns seamlessly with the district’s strategic plan, which emphasizes building strong collaborative relationships, engaging families, and communities, and establishing connections with educators and local businesses,” said Jennifer Stanton, MACS director of pupil services.
To achieve this, group officials said, the primary goal includes connecting community agencies with families to cultivate robust, lasting relationships between the school and home.
Meetings are planned for four times this school year, with a celebration in June. The next meeting is March 13, 2025 at 6 p.m. with the location to be determined.
