St. Francis Commons Residents Practice Art of Floral Design

OSWEGO – Debbie McKinstry from Maida’s Floral Shop in Oswego spent an afternoon with residents at St. Francis Commons demonstrating the art of floral design and arrangement, just in time for the spring season and Easter holiday.

McKinstry guided the group through a “hands on” arrangement and each St. Francis Commons resident created their own colorful work of art, which featured a birdhouse with various flowers and even Easter eggs.

The arrangements will sure to be on display in rooms throughout the residence.

“Thanks to Debbie at Maida’s who not only took time out of her busy schedule to come and work with our folks to help each create these beautiful arrangements, but she also helped us with all of the flowers and other supplies,” said St. Francis Commons activities director Peggy LiVoti.

St. Francis Commons Assisted Living Residence is a part of The St. Luke Family of Caring, an affiliation of community-based, not-for-profit healthcare providers serving the greater Oswego County area.

Located on the St. Luke healthcare campus in the City of Oswego, St. Francis Commons provides supportive housing and home care services in a comfortable, single-story residence accommodating 60 individuals in fully equipped private or shared-private rooms.
