St. Luke’s Tara Searor Receives 2017 LeadingAge NY Employee of Distinction Award

OSWEGO – Tara Searor is a 2017 LeadingAge New York Long Term Care Employee of Distinction Award recipient.
Searor, who has been a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego for 11 years, received the award from James Clyne, CEO of LeadingAge NY, during a reception held at St. Luke in her honor.
The Employee of Distinction Award acknowledges the extraordinary efforts of front line staff working in long-term care settings like St. Luke Health Services, all across New York State.
In presenting the award, Clyne said, “The award’s purpose is to provide aging services providers with the opportunity to recognize caregivers who demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond to improve the lives of frail elderly New Yorkers – those who bring a special compassion and personal commitment to their job each and every day. Tara has certainly demonstrated these characteristics both to her work and in her community, and we are proud to recognize her considerable contributions.”
Clyne added that LeadingAge NY Employee of Distinction award recipients from across the state, including Searor, were recognized in a resolution passed earlier this year by the entire New York State Legislature.
Those on hand to congratulate Searor included her family, friends, St. Luke residents and fellow staff members.
Representatives from the offices of New York State Senator Patty Ritchie and Assemblyman William Barclay we on hand, as was city of Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow, who congratulated Searor, thanking her for her exemplary service in the care of frail older adults in our community.
St. Luke CEO and Administrator Terrence Gorman noted, “This recognition is well earned and we are fortunate to have Tara, and pleased to share this statewide recognition celebrating her achievements here among residents, volunteers, family and friends. A common theme often repeated when describing Tara is her willingness to go beyond what is expected, and to make everyday a better day for our residents and fellow professional caregivers.”
Diane Garcia, St. Luke Assistant Director Activities, on introducing Searor described her work ethic, leadership and her caring and compassion as the basis for her nomination for this award.
“For those who have the privilege of working with her, Tara is a dynamic individual, dedicated to improving the wellbeing of our residents each and every day and serves as an outstanding role model for other employees,” she said.
In addition to her employment with St. Luke, Searor is pursuing a Registered Nursing degree. Those joining in the award celebration were Searor’s family, many co-workers, residents and their families.
