PARISH  – Oswego County Legislator David Holst, District 4, (left) congratulated Fred Swartz of Parish for more than 40 years of service to the community.

County, town and village officials in Parish recently honored Swartz, who began serving in 1972 as a member of the grievance of board of review.

Swartz also served as town councilman, a member of the joint planning board for 31 years and as deputy town supervisor for 14 years.

He received a legislative commendation signed by Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner and Legislator Holst, citing his “enduring contributions as a leader among our community, his contagious example of life in full celebration through service, and his daily gift of love to a grateful community.”

Swartz lives in the village of Parish with his wife, Mary Bridget Swartz, and daughter, Katherine.
