rice creek map OSWEGO – Contractors have mobilized for a year’s worth of construction at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station, closing the main road into the nature preserve and shifting public trail access to Fallbrook Recreation Center, south of Rice Creek on Thompson Road.

Hikers will need to use the parking area across the road from Fallbrook and walk a quarter-mile on the green trail from the recreation center to Rice Creek’s trail system.

Signs will indicate sections of trails that are closed for safety reasons during construction, which is expected to conclude in 12 months with the unveiling of a 7,200-square-foot, energy-efficient field station, an observatory relocated from the Romney Field House parking lot and a rebuilt pavilion and maintenance building, as well as educational/directional signage.
