Friends and family attended the graduation ceremony held at CiTi’s main campus in Mexico.

CiTi Board of Education President John Shelmidine congratulated the graduates on their perseverance and dedication to their life goals.

“Adult Education represents the cornerstone of what this organization is all about, that is, lifelong learning,” said Shelmidine. “It takes a high level of courage and determination to identify a goal and re-enter the classroom as an adult learner. You have to leave relatively safe havens to pursue personal growth and career enhancement. These individuals are very special in this regard, and they are an inspiration to all of us.”

The program at CCCE prepares adult students to work as Practical Nurses in home care agencies, nursing homes, physician’s offices, hospitals and healthcare clinics.

Alumni Penny Loomis, now employed in the healthcare field, was asked to give some encouraging words to the recent graduates.

“Do your job well, do it with integrity,” said Loomis. “Never be in so much of a hurry that you don’t stop to listen to your patients, really listen. Be the kind of nurse you would want taking care of you and your family members. Encourage one another and encourage your patients. Remember, you can make a difference in someone else’s life.”
