FULTON, NY – While the summer vacation may be in full swing, the United Way is already planning for the 2010 / 2011 school year.

Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Melanie Trexler has announced that the agency has officially kicked off its annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign and is currently collecting school supplies for children in need throughout Oswego County.

Mike Lighthall, assistant manager of Staples in Oswego, accepts a collection box for the United Way’s annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign from Morgan Mears. Staples will be collecting school supplies, as well as selling paper buses in support of the campaign.

“We need to start now to ensure that children less fortunate are ready to begin the school this fall with the supplies they need to succeed. Ali McGrath will be coordinating our Stuff-A-Bus campaign this year and we are looking forward to another successful campaign,” said Trexler.

Collection boxes have been distributed to a number of stores and businesses throughout Oswego County.

Caring community members will be able to place their donations of school supplies in the boxes from now through Aug. 13.

“I am pleased with the reception we have received from the businesses who have volunteered to be an official collection point for school supplies,” said McGrath. “Stuff-A-Bus is a great program and I encourage community members to help us make this year’s campaign the best ever.”

For this year’s campaign, Success By 6 looks to fill nine buses with school supplies for students in need throughout Oswego County.

School supplies will be collected at various locations now through Aug. 13, when the campaign culminates in a final collection day.

Success By 6 will have buses at nine convenient locations that day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
