VOLNEY – Students in Erin Brewster’s fourth grade class at Volney Elementary School will help dozens of pets throughout the community receive food and treats.

In lieu of a classroom holiday gift exchange, students collected dog and cat food, treats and toys for PAWS Across Oswego County.
Located in Oswego the animal rescue operates a pet pantry for Oswego County dog and cat owners.
Volunteers Marjorie Wentworth and Connie Evans recently visited the elementary school to speak with the fourth graders about the rescue and its “Reading for Rescue” program.
With dogs Charlotte and Sawyer in tow, Evans read “Charlotte’s Big Dream” and Wentworth read “Sawyer’s Promise,” just a few of the books which are available for purchase at the rescue to help fund operations.
Brewster said her students also read the books prior to the classroom visit.
