OSWEGO – Robert Jones is a retired technology education teacher from the Hannibal School District. He began watercolor painting after retirement and has been teaching watercolor painting at several organizations throughout Oswego County.

This is his fifth year painting and his artwork continues to evolve through experimentation, studies and practice.

“Watercolor painting has inspired me to look closer at the beauty and complexity in our world. Watercolor painting also has encouraged me to look at the details of light, shadow, movement and reflection in our environment,” he said. “I use a basic palette of primary colors in an effort to create harmonious compositions. Through this approach many enjoy the variety of my artistic interpretations.”

He has also taken classes from other watercolor artists, and recently developed a passion for solar watercolor painting.

Solar watercolor painting is a process using sunshine, water, natural materials, and watercolor pigments.

“This technique is used to capture the beauty and complexity in our natural world. The results can be planned but many times are unexpected which helps to stimulate the imaginations of viewers,” he said.
