PULASKI – Want to be part of history? You don’t even have to be “historical” to help out.
The Pulaski Historical Society is looking for a few good men, women and younger people to volunteer their time and talents to help in various areas.
Our volunteers help in advancing our mission, extending the capacity of our museum staff and board, expanding our reach into the community, demonstrating local support and in publicizing our programs.
The purpose of the historical society is to discover, catalog and preserve materials and objects pertinent to the history of the Pulaski area, to sponsor writing and publications and to promote society interest in Pulaski’s historical resources.
The historical society can use volunteers in many areas, with flexible time commitments.
Some possible areas include museum guides, stuffing monthly newsletter mailings, researching historical information on the internet, office and clerical assistance, data entry, website maintenance, publicity, marketing and fundraising skills, development of educational programs, special events and exhibits, creative skills like carpentry, gardening, sewing or photography and even the “grunt” work of moving things.
Volunteer application forms are available to fill out at the museum and at the display in the Pulaski Library.
There will be a tour guide training session at the museum on May 21 at 10 a.m.
Those interested can join in for a detailed tour and question and answer time, including where information is stored and how to answer visitors’ questions.
Please contact the historical society by phone or e-mail if interested in attending this session.
The Pulaski Historical Society is located at 3428 Maple Ave., across from Mavis Tire/Cole Muffler in the village.
Volunteers are available to help with research and questions at the regular work sessions on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
