OSWEGO – Members of Concinnity, the local select women’s vocal ensemble, believe that “In our changing climate, politically and otherwise, it is important for everyone to stand up for peace, justice, love and hope.”
They have chosen to make their voices heard by means of a second annual Visions of Hope Concert with the theme, Together We Rise.
It follows in the tradition of a standing room only concert last year.
The program will consist of songs of peace and hope and include texts by influential women, including Sojourner Truth, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Malala.
The concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 7111 State Route 104 West, Oswego, on May 12 at 7 p.m.
The women of Concinnity will be joined in song by the Harborfest Alumni Musical Singers, younger adults who have been involved in the children’s musicals presented during annual Harborfest celebrations under the direction of Bobbie Palange and Rocky Farden.
The company will also include the Kindred Spirits, a group of community women who have volunteered their time to join in this positive and thoughtful celebration of hope.
Concinnity conductor Mary Lou Bjorkman wondered, “Can anyone really argue with peace and love? Come join us for a Mothers’ Day eve program filled with empowering songs for women and for everyone.”
There will be no admission charge, but a freewill offering will be invited.
