OSWEGO, NY – Constance C. Gagas, 84, of Oswego, died Thursday January 7, 2016.
She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Born in Toronto, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carrie (Bey) Copses.
She was a graduate of University of Toronto Victoria College and a primary school teacher there.
She had been a resident of Oswego since her marriage in 1957.
Leader and member of many social and charitable organizations, including Oswego Hospital Volunteer and Auxiliary, Winter Club, Oswego Garden Club, the Ladies Home and the Children’s Board.
A longtime supporter of many arts organizations in Oswego.
She was a member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church in Dewitt.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Chris C. Gagas; her daughter, Anastasia (James Rizzo) of Oswego; her sons, Charles (Claire) Gagas of San Bruno, Calif., and Gregory (Holly) Gagas of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Adam Gagas of Oswego; three grandchildren, Rustam, Raisa and Aryana.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St., Oswego.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, with a Trisagion Service at 4 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
