Take time to cool off this summer with The Oswego ChildrenÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s TheaterÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“s productionÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â of L. Frank BaumÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s Classic “The Wizard of Oz” opening Harborfest weekend as the fourth show of the 2008 season.
Lyndise Lee Mosher will direct this reprise production of the show. Mosher also directed the show several years ago as the inaugural production of Oswego ChildrenÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s Theater. “The Wizard of Oz”
The show is based on beloved 1939 MGM movie version of the “Wizard of Oz” and featuring Judy Garland and the iconic song “Somewhere, Over the Rainbow”.
This version of “The Wizard of Oz” features a large cast of 50 area youth including many returning actors from the original production. The show also features bright sets and costumes, and a familiar story and score calculated to please children of all ages.
The production is slated to be performed July 25, 30, 31, and August 1, 2, at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances July 27, and August 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. All performances will be in the air-conditioned Frances Marion Brown Theater located in the Civic Arts Center Building, in Fort Ontario Park in Oswego. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
