Crim Road Fire Claims Two Lives

PARISH – At about 8:47 a.m. today (Feb. 19), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fire on Crim Road in the town of Parish.

The caller stated that there was a man yelling from a window that he and his wife were trapped inside.

Members arrived on the scene and attempted entry into the residence but were unsuccessful due to heavy smoke and flames.

The fire was extinguished and both a man and a woman were located inside, both were deceased, according to the police report.

The man was identified as 49-year-old Richard E. Nicholas of 150
Crim road in the town of Parish.

The female victim has not been positively identified at this time, police said.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Parish fire department, Central Square fire department, Hastings fire department, Mexico fire department, New Haven fire department, West Amboy fire department, and the Williamstown fire department, and the Oswego County Cause and Origin team.

Also assisting at the scene were McFee Ambulance and Menter Ambulance services.

Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police.

The investigation into this fire, and the cause, is ongoing.
