MEXICO – The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Oswego County of an upcoming culvert replacement project over Black Creek, in the village of Mexico.
Work will begin on June 29 and is expected to be completed prior to the first day of school in September.
The project will replace the existing culvert with a new precast concrete box structure.
The work will be done in one season.
During construction, the creek crossing will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
A posted detour will direct through traffic to use state routes 3 and 104B to bypass the construction site.
Local traffic can get around the work site by using village streets.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
This project is part of a larger contract to replace large culverts in NYSDOT’s Central New York region.
The contractor is Slate Hill Constructors, located in Warners, NY.
A public information meeting for this project was held on June 26, 2013.
