Dancers Plan Benefit For ALS Association

HANNIBAL – The Shirts ‘n Skirts Square Dance Club is hosting a fundraiser on June 2 from 2 – 10 p.m. at the Kenney Middle School on Cayuga Street in Hannibal to benefit the ALS Association.

The event is in honor of Elaine Eno, a graduate of Hannibal Central School and a long-time dancer who was diagnosed with the disease early in 2010 and passed away in March 2011.

No cure has been found for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Modern Western Square Dancing and Cued Round Dancing will be offered by several area callers and cuers who will be donating their time.

Dancers from Central New York area clubs are expected to attend and dance in the main gym at the school.

Dancing in the cafeteria will be as follows: 2-3 p.m. line dancing; 3-4 p.m. introduction to square dancing; 4-5 p.m. advanced square dancing; 6 -7 p.m. introduction to square dancing; 7-8 p.m. introduction to advanced square dancing and 8 – 9 p.m. advanced square dancing.

The Shirts & Skirts club is providing several baskets, afghans, and a lottery tree for a raffle and serving light refreshments.

The public is invited to attend the dance or stop in and purchase raffle tickets.

The same evening, the Martville Methodist Church is hosting a spaghetti dinner for dancers and the public, beginning at 5 p.m.
