Oswego- Darlene Whitney Plunkett, 63, lost her courageous battle with cancer on December 24, 2011, at the Oswego Hospital surrounded by her husband and children.
She was born November 13, 1948 in Buffalo and was the daughter of the late George and Geraldine Shear. She graduated from Hannibal Central School in 1966.
She worked for Stone & Webster and Niagara Mohawk, retiring in 1990. Nicknamed the “Tootsie Tourist”, she enjoyed traveling, but most of all spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael H. Plunkett; two daughters, Wendy (Paul) Suits and Holly Whitney; one son, Ken Whitney; three grandchildren, Alec and Alyssa Suits and Caitlin Whitney; one sister, Bonnie (John) Ciszewski; five step-children, Mick Plunkett, Mary (Joe) Comerford, William Plunkett, Brigette “Gigi” Plunkett, Tim Plunkett; two step-granddaughters, Alyson Comerford and Laurel Plunkett.
Calling hours will be held 4-7p.m., Wednesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, with a prayer service to follow.
