David J Walpole

OSWEGO, NY – David J Walpole, 69, of Oswego, passed away on Saturday Dec. 4, 2010, at St Lucie Medical Center, Port St Lucie, Florida, following a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Bocco) Walpole of Oswego.

Mr. Walpole retired from Alcan Rolled Products after 30 plus years of service.

He was a very proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He was also a member of the Marine Corps League.

In addition he was a life member of the American Legion Post #268 where he previously served as commander.

He was also scoutmaster for more than 30 years for
Boy Scout Troop #843.

He was also a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and several other organizations.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Anne (Corso) Walpole; three sons, David J. (Brenda) Walpole, Marc A. Walpole and Stephen M. (Rebecca) Walpole; his beloved grandchildren, Mathew (Lisa) Moreau, Meghan (Glenn) Regnet, Derrick Moreau, Darrell Moreau, David Walpole, Marc Walpole Jr., Taylor Walpole and Harley Walpole; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Walpole of North Carolina, Richard (Sandy) Walpole of Oswego, Donald (Angie) Walpole of Honeoye Falls, Ronald (Betty) Walpole of Bristol, R.I.

He was predeceased by two brothers, James Walpole and Robert Walpole; and four sisters, Florence Gehan, Mary Ellen Springsteen, Theresa Wells and Beverly Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at noon from St. Joseph’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m.

    I was sorry to see the notice of Dave’s passing.

    We lived a block apart on West Fourth Street and were chums during our young years. Time and shifting interests separated us but I ‘ve never frogotten Dave. We had some fun times together. He was a good guy.
