SANDY CREEK – The Sandy Creek Central School choral department dazzled the audience at their spring concert with performances by the middle school chorus, show choir and mixed chorus.
The middle school sang “Touch the Sky” from the film “Brave” with soloists Sydney Cook and Morgan Bristol.
Music teacher Sandy Kinney said that the group was the largest middle school chorus she has ever had.
The show choir consisted of 16 boys and girls who made the music come to life with stunning dance choreography.
The song “Happy” featured soloists Mariah Hess and Nicky Radford, and “Chain of Fools” featured Katie Austin.
Kinney said that the mixed chorus’ performance of “May the Road Rise Up,” arranged by Jay Rouse, was her favorite song that the students sang that evening because of how well the students portrayed its beauty.
The melody was a traditional Gaelic blessing, “And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
Awards were distributed to members participating in All-County Festival, NYSSMA Solo Festival and Area All-State competitions at the end of the evening.
“The dedication from these kids is unbelievable,” said Kinney. “I want to thank the parents that are so supportive, because without you, I wouldn’t have this wonderful and amazing chorus.”
