To the editor:
I doubt that I am alone in my exhaustion with the political campaign season, or in my desire to see more qualified, honest, and impartial candidates on the ballot.
One breath of fresh air is Scott DelConte, candidate for Supreme Court Justice.
Scott’s legal expertise is unquestionable. He has degrees with honors from Cornell University and Washington & Lee University’s School of Law. He is a well-respected lawyer in Oswego, and his years managing a law office, litigating all manner of civil cases as well as handling real estate transactions, business matters and estate planning, demonstrate his broad experience in the law.
But it is Scott’s character that sets him apart from both the typical candidate and the typical lawyer.
Scott is a farmer and 4-H volunteer, a hunter and fisherman, a lifelong United Methodist, a husband and father of four. Watching how Scott and his wife, Heather, raise their children – teaching them honesty, responsibility, and hard work on their beef cattle farm, in the classroom, and in our community – has convinced me that Scott has the values we want in a judge.
On the Supreme Court bench, Scott DelConte will be fair and impartial, independent from politics, and immune to improper influence.
We would be lucky to have more candidates like Scott DelConte.
