OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Players’ veteran director, Bobby Fontana, started out in March directing Clarence Day Jr.’s classic comedy, “Life with Father.”
Due to an unforeseen situation, Knate Roy, originally cast as the father, had to bow out.
Fontana made an attempt to replace him, however, with opening night looming, it became necessary for him to play the role himself.
As director, he was already familiar with the dialogue, and with the aid of his assistant director/stage manager Zane Leo, it was a natural step to take.
With Fontana’s extensive acting and directing experience, the transition should be seamless.
It is interesting to note that this very popular classic play and movie graces the Frances Marion Brown stage for the first time in recorded Oswego Players history going back to 1938. This nostalgic piece poses a new delight for Oswego Players’ faithful patrons.
The rest of the cast includes Stephanie Johnson, Norman Berlin III, Jennifer Snow, Danielle Currier, Larry Rose, Ryan Benson Smith, Rufus Leo and Amanda Mosher.
Show dates are 8 p.m. April 27 and 28; May 4 and 5.
A matinee performance will be 2 p.m., May 6.
Ticket prices are $10/adults, $8/seniors and $7/students, and are available by calling the Players’ Box Office at 315-343-5138.
