Attention farmers! Make plans to attend the discussion series Oswego County Transitioning Agriculture Managers. This four-part series will focus on many topics that will face farmers in the future. Each session will take place from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office, 3288 Main St, Mexico and includes lunch.
1.The first session will be February 10th and focus on succession planning, providing information on integrating the next generation into the farm business. Dan Galusha the Vice President of Farm Business Consulting with Farm Credit East will be presenting the information.
2.Dan Galusha, Vice President of Farm Business Consulting with Farm Credit East will be presenting the second session on February 23rd as well. This discussion will center on estate and retirement planning for the farm family.
3.The third session will take place on March 9th, and will cover all types of insurance including health, life, property and casualty insurances. An insurance company representative will be on hand to lead this discussion topic.
4.E. Andrew Polley, Vice President and Investment Officer with Wells Fargo Advisors in Dewitt, will present the fourth and final session on March 23rd covering long term care planning. He will have an example of a long term care policy to show participants.
Oswego County Transitioning Agriculture Managers discussion series is open to anyone operating a farm business and is funded by a grant from the New York Center for Dairy Excellence. The discussion series is free of charge to all participants. You may attend as few or as many of the sessions as you wish. However, we do require that participants pre-register to enable us to plan for lunch and handouts for everyone in attendance.
