OSWEGO – The Oswego County Legislature is currently short one legislator.
The remaining 24 received the following note: This is to inform you that Daniel LeClair has filed his resignation as Legislator for District 8, effective January 2, 2018.
No other information was given.
Legislators were informed earlier this month, just prior to the reorganizational meeting.
During roll call at the meeting, he was listed as “excused.”
“The Legislature can appoint someone to fill the seat until the next general election,” County Administrator Phil Church said. “That appointee is usually someone nominated by the party committees within the district.”
District 8 covers parts of the towns of Palermo and Hastings.
LeClair has said he intends to seek the director of Oswego County’s Veterans’ Services Agency. Current director, Donna Kestner, is retiring at the end of this month.
Chairman of the Legislature Shane Broadwell hasn’t responded to a request for further information.
