Oswego, NY – The Veterans’ Stage on West Linear Park in downtown Oswego will once again host a series of concerts this summer as the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the City of Oswego, sponsors the West Linear Park Summer Concert Series.
“We are pleased to once again be working with the city to sponsor this popular music series,” said Executive Director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Beth Hilton. “The stage at West Linear Park provides us with a perfect location and the concerts will provide members of our community and visitors with the opportunity to listen to some wonderful music while enjoying a breathtaking view of the river and the Oswego Harbor.”
The concert series will begin June 19 with the sounds of The Do Good Swing Bank performing from 7 – 9 p.m. The concert series continues with performances by The Nick Sterio Orchestra on July 17 and The Domicolo-Barlow Band on August 21.
The Do Good Swing Band, lead by Donald R. Goodness, director and lead trumpet, is a 17-piece Big Band exactly like those made popular in the 1930s and 40s, recently released its first CD, “Introducing…The Do Good Swing Band,” and copies will be available for sale during the performance.
The CD features 12 songs from the Swing Era that represent the wide range of bands and styles we recreate – everything from driving swing to samba. The CD is also available for $15 each in Oswego at the rivers end bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St.; Midstate Music, 264 W. Second St.; and at A & J Music, 104 E. Bridge St.
All concerts will be from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Veterans’ Stage on West Linear Park. Please bring your own blankets or lawn chairs for the concerts.
