Donald G. ‘Duckie’ Myers
July 1937 – April 2015
Donald Grant Myers, 77, of Brea, Calif., passed away at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, Calif.
He was born in Fulton, NY, the youngest son of the late Jack and Betty (Geddes) Myers.
His siblings, Jeanne East, Brent Myers and Patricia Rhorer preceded him in death.
Don was known as “Duckie” to his family and his friends in Fulton.
He graduated from Fulton High School in 1955.
He was a Navy veteran who proudly served as a fire control technician aboard the USS Grand Canyon.
While working for General Electric in Syracuse, Don accepted a career opportunity that took him to California in the early 1960s.
He had a long and varied career in aerospace, but he especially took pride in his work on the Apollo and Voyager programs.
He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, gardening and cooking and was a lifelong Yankees fan.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 181 in Brea, Calif., La Habra, Calif., Moose Lodge #1858 and Fullerton, Calif., Elks Lodge #1993.
Don is survived by his wife, Susie; his children Donald G. Myers II, David G. Myers and Karen Myers Dougherty; three grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.
His ashes were scattered at sea.
