Doree J. Kellogg, 66

FULTON, NY – Doree J. Kellogg, 66, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday October 6, 2013, at home after a long illness.

Doree was an Honor Society graduate of Hannibal High School class of 1965 and had attended SUNY New Paltz School of Art.

She met her future husband, Len Kellogg, in kindergarten at Hannibal Central School and they had been married for 47 years.

She retired in 2011 as a secretary at Oswego Industries in Fulton after more than 20 years and worked previously at Wild Wood Gallery Mail Order Company in Syracuse 11 years and at Syroco in Van Buren.

Doree was a member of the Sterling Valley Community Church in Sterling Valley.

She was also a member of S.A.M.E. (Syracuse Area Miniature Enthusiast) and had many seines, dolls, market gardens and even doilies in miniature.

She enjoyed sewing and made drapes for her home and, of course, doll clothes for her granddaughter’s dolls and young friends who needed clothes as well as for her own dolls.

Crafts were a big hit with her.

Doree loved to cook and reading cook books.

She enjoyed camping; it did not matter if it was tent, pop-up or a cabin and would create delicious camping desserts and one time a not so great dessert, all on a Coleman gas stove or over an open fire.

Doree loved to travel including trips to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Alaska, Caribbean Islands and Great Brittan and she loved meeting new people and she made friends easily, but never forgot family and old friends.

She also loved manhattans and screwdrivers.

She had been given an award by the Fulton Lions Club for her successful ticket sales for the Lions Annual Duck Derby and received a placard with a picture of a Sight Guide Dog that had been named Doree in her honor.

Doree was very, very proud of this honor!

The placard was always on display in her home along with other items she wanted people to see in her display case.

Surviving are her husband, Leonard Kellogg of Fulton; a son, Troy Kellogg and granddaughter, Devon Kellogg both of Champlain; sisters, Elaine Simmons (John) of Sterling Valley and Luann Irwin of Alton; mother-in-law, Estella Kellogg of Hannibal; sisters-in-law, Janet Lehtonen (Harve)  of Palermo, Floy Nostrant (Gary) of Tustin, Mich. and Linda Holmes (Maurice) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Warren Kellogg and Lyle Kellogg (Rosemary) all of Hannibal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Lee Irwin.
