Doris E. Germain, 88, a resident of Oswego, passed away October 18, 2011 at St. Luke Health Services.
Born in Minetto, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Dove) Smith.
Doris was an avid dressmaker, caterer, homemaker and a mother.
She worked at Singer sewing center, SUCO food service, Emmereck’s family and St. Mary’s rectory as a cook.
She enjoyed all of her family and loved being with them all. Family members enjoyed the benefits of many of her favorite past times. Knitting, crocheting, sewing and cooking were all her specialties and treasured by all who received them.
Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Germaine; Cheri (Alexander) Thompson; a son Edward Germain, all of Oswego; two sisters, Virginia (Martin) Crucitti of Oswego and Lillian Ingersol of Fulton; a brother in law, Elden Dunn; sixteen grandchildren; one step-grandchild; thirty four great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Romeo Germain (1985), a son, Phillip James Germain (1999), a grandson Michael P. Germain (2005). Four brothers, Herbert, Harold, Lloyd and Lee, and four sisters, Ruth Hibbert, Hazel Kelly, Vivian Miller and Norma Dunn.
Calling hours will be held 3-6p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego. A prayer service will follow the calling hours.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
