OSWEGO, NY – Dorothy L. Mayer, 87, a resident of Scriba, passed away on Saturday November 21, 2015, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Lycoming, she was a daughter of the late Lynn and Nina (Youmans) Wright and had attended Oswego schools.
She was employed with Woolworth’s, Oswego Candy Works, Breneman’s Hartshorn Shade Co., Loblaws and later retired from Price Chopper.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening and reading and loved to crochet.
Surviving are her four children, Marlene (Wayne) Davis of Scriba, Diane (David Hoefer) Vickery of Scriba, Foster L. Mayer of Scriba and Donna (Michael) Weegar of Minetto; a sister, Florence (Bernard) France; three grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Davis, Scott (Sarah) Davis and Jennifer See Driskell; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Davis, Skyler Davis, Evan Davis and Eli Davis who was born on November 22, 2015; and her beloved cat, Baby Girl.
She was predeceased by her husband, Foster J. Mayer, in 2005; infant daughter, Karen Mayer; her brother, Donald Wright; an infant sister, Margaret Wright; and her cat, Zoie.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
Spring burial will be in North Scriba Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
