Dr. Joseph Mather Receives Standing Ovation From County Legislature

OSWEGO – The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee recently congratulated Dr. Joseph E. Mather on his retirement and recognized his dedication to the health and well-being of the Oswego County community.

Dr. Mather thanked

Dr. Mather served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps before moving to Oswego where he established his medical practice and inspired the medical careers of his children.

For more than 50 years, Dr. Mather has distinguished himself as a medical practitioner, educator and leader.

He has served as an associate professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University; department chief at Oswego Hospital; past president of the Oswego County Medical Society and the CNY Association of OB-GYNs; past chairman of ACOG District II Section 5; and as a member of the Oswego County Board of Public Health.

Dr. Mather received a standing ovation from the Legislature and guests.
