Oswego Health Obstetrician/Gynecologist Ronald Uva, MD, has been elected vice chair of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) New York.
Dr. Uva has also been named ACOG’s 2012 John McCain Fellow. The John McCain Memorial Fellowship was founded in 1981 in memory of Dr. John McCain, a strong advocate for ACOG’s government affairs program. The Fellowship affords the recipient the opportunity to meet with lawmakers and staff; attend legislative hearings on issues of interest to his specialty; interact with officials of regulatory agencies; and meet with representatives of medical groups and other allied organizations. Dr. Uva will spend the month of April 2012 in Washington DC doing direct advocacy for women’s health care.
The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, District II (ACOG) represents over 4,000 members who deliver healthcare to New York’s women.
Dr. Uva is also a member of the NYS Board for Medicine. He is believed to be the first physician from Oswego Health to be named to the prestigious state board. The Board issues medical licenses, investigates incidents of professional misconduct and oversees other matters determined by the state Health Department. He is in the midst of serving a five-year term on the Board for Medicine.
Dr. Uva has been on the medical staff of Oswego Hospital for more than 30 years. He is the president of Oswego County OB GYN, P.C., which has been providing quality obstetrical and gynecological care to the residents of Oswego County for more than forty-five years. The group provides 24 hour on-site coverage at the Oswego Hospital Maternity Center.
