DSS Hosts Aug. 1 Orientation Meeting for Future Foster and Adoptive Parents

MEXICO – Are you looking for a way to serve the needs of your community?

Do you like children and teens?

The Oswego County Department of Social Services needs foster parents for children of all ages, newborn to 21.

Foster parents provide a safe place for children to stay and serve as role models for the children placed in their care, and their parents.

Foster parents have the opportunity to make a positive difference in a child’s life and to help shape their future.

The DSS staff will host an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 1, at the DSS office, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

Oswego County also needs Hispanic foster parents.

Attendance at the informational meeting is required in order to enroll in the 10-week preparation program.

Single and two-parent families may apply to foster or adopt.

Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training.
