Duane R. West, 80

OSWEGO, NY – Duane R. West, 80, a resident of Scriba, passed away on Friday September 25, 2015, at his home.

Born in Clarion, Pa., he was a son of the late Floyd and Ruby (Doverspike) West and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

He was a member of the Ironworkers Local #60 in Syracuse for 55 years and had worked on several construction projects in New York State.

Mr. West was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1956-1959.

He was a member of the VFW #369 in Mexico, American Legion #268 and the Lake City Lodge #127 F & AM.

He enjoyed gardening and vintage cars.

Surviving are his step-daughter, Karen (Steve) Fike of Grapevine, Texas and her children  Kaitlin and Jacob Fike; and his brother, Leonard West of Nevada.

He was predeceased by his wife, Janet, in 2007; and brother, Daniel, in 1977.

Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Contributions in Duane’s name may be made to the Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego N.Y. 13126.

Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.

  1. Worked at Fitzpatrick power plant and had many good talks with Duane on the job. Sorry Len for the loss of your brother. Duane is one of those people you keep in your thoughts of great memories for sure.
