Eagles Fan Club Honors presented at Oswego Speedway Banquet

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Speedway Eagles Fan Club will once again play an integral part in the 2012 Mitchell’s Speedway Press Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame Banquet on November 10 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center.

The Fan Club, which was formed many years ago by a group of fans at the Speedway as a non-profit organization, is aimed at supporting the drivers and owners who compete at Oswego Speedway.

Tickets for the Speedway banquet are $45 and are now available at the Oswego Speedway office.

The deadline for ticket purchases is November 1.

The main honors presented by the Eagles Fan Club are the Jim Shampine and Tony White Memorial awards, which go to individuals who display extraordinary dedication, and work ethic toward the sport of auto racing at Oswego Speedway.

Long-time Supermodified car owner Craig Danzer was the recipient of the Jim Shampine Memorial award in 2011, while SBS owner/driver Barry Kingsley was presented with the Tony White Memorial award one year ago.

A total of more than $60,000 in prize money will be awarded as a part of the 2012 Oswego Speedway point fund between the Supermodified and SBS divisions, including the Eagles Fan Club prize money which will be awarded to teams based on their attendance during the season.

A total of more than 300 members joined the Eagles Fan Club in 2012 including 34 Novelis Supermodified teams and 25 Pathfinder Bank SBS teams.

The Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame Banquet will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and will be followed immediately by dinner and the awards ceremony which will include the induction of six new members to the Mitchell’s Speedway Press Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame.

Doug Didero, George Kent, Ed Thompson, Don Beauchene, Jim McGiff and Jack Jermyn will be the latest inductees into the hall which began honoring past drivers, owners, officials, and employees in 1998.

At the conclusion of the banquet ceremonies Ron Gray’s Millennium Music will host a post party inside the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center.
